Why does my HP Officejet create such huge files when scanning a document? - hp officejet g85 initializing

I have an HP Officejet 6210, which works as a printer and copier. But also created when you scan text documents without the graphics, the huge files, TIF or PDF. I use the lower resolution and still admits 3MB for a text page.

My complaint is that a scanner is slow and cumbersome, time consuming and the software is too complicated.
